I’m a freelance journalist in Memphis, Tenn. My writing has appeared in The Washington Post and The Washington Post Magazine, The New York Times, Smithsonian Magazine, Outside Magazine, The Associated Press, Life Magazine, Popular Science and elsewhere, even an itty-bitty piece in Esquire. I'm also the author of several biographies for Life Books, including a New York Times best-selling biography of Barack Obama.
